Germans have a word for it. It's called "Shiftenvaredenlooken". Loosely translated, it means "to look somewhere else (because the path is blocked, in this context). It dates back hundreds of years, sprouting up somewhere in the 1600s. It was first used by the germanic villagers in now West Berlin. And the last interesting note about this word and its history is that I made it all up, and made you take a few seconds to a minute out of your day.
