It's got a lot of good and a lot of bad, it improves a lot of things I didn't like about death note but sacrifices a lot that made it great

It was a progression as I watched it

My mother (who has never seen death note) watched the movie and said it was bad, the character development and portrayal left a lot to be desired, So I don't think it's just people salty over it not being 'what they wanted'.
