If you want to save lives, why don't you the military, guard, red cross, or etc?

Because as a journalist you might only have a limited amount of opportunities to save someone, but you get to share something with a whole nation and in theory you could stop what ever gruesome thing is happening.

And in the military sometimes you're gonna have to take a child's life and that sticks with you for awhile. My cousins been a vet for 7 or 8 years now but he's still in and out of mental asylums. He just can't get over how many people he was told to kill.
