Hi Joshuary. I’m quite acquainted with FunSubstance, seeing your post count though perhaps I should welcome you? If you double check I’m a user, not a guest. But thank you. I’m not arguing anything- I’m stating that the context given in the picture, if we think about it- implies that while the obvious point the originator is going for is as you state- the actual picture itself is ambiguous enough on its own content and common deduction- that the point we draw from the picture can be subjective.

Likewise- we could infer this person appears lost in the desert. They are facing left. If they came from the direction of the right, it wouldn’t necessarily be smart to head back the way you came- assuming that you left that area for a reason. So as for wether or not the person in the photo is dumb- we don’t have enough info.

Mathematically it should be obvious a mile is longer than a kilometer even if you don’t know this intuitively. What we do NOT know however- is if the “Americans” in the picture are being dumb. The scene is cropped. We cannot see in either direction out of frame. We do not know what the terrain is like in either direction. A mile with shade would be likely wiser than a kilometer in open sun.

Perhaps I may. You’re kind to encourage me and believe in me. So now it is I who owe your thanks. I can most certainly say I wasn’t intentionally condescending to you, but since you were kind to me I shall return the favor and just say that perhaps if you feel condescended to, you may have unresolved personal adequacy issues. I don’t know what others have told you in life, it seems they may have been unkind. But I think you’re super. You’re worthy, and you have tremendous potential. Don’t let the world make you fee otherwise, and best of luck on your journey to self esteem!

People with type 2 diabetes are better suited to use it than people with type 1. It’s more potentially risky if you are type 1 diabetic, or if you’re used to dosage and administration of newer types of insulin.

Bethorien and xvarnah make a good overall point. Here’s a more comprehensive break down:
The price of insulin has nearly tripled over a few decades. The stuff sold at Walmart is the only “private” label insulin currently on the market- hence the cost. It’s what is known as “human insulin.” That’s an older type of insulin from the 1980’s. It isn’t as good at regulating rapid changes in blood sugar as newer types.

How one night he physically unable to call someone a word other than “man” or “woman” I am lost on though. You don’t seem to have a good grip on your argument, can’t define what either gender is, and think that species and gender or occupation (rocket scientist) and gender are interchangeable. Despite a lengthy explanation (twice) on how language works you also don’t seem to understand what a variable is. Abstract thinking is hard for many people though so I can understand you having difficulty with it.

At least for mind end, long ago I acknowledged those analogies were imperfect. If you want to debate the accuracy of the analogy that’s not the same as debating the issue at hand. As I said- and likely where I will leave this: No no one can make you respect people. You’ve made it clear that to you- the idea of a person not being male or female is laughable. You consider such people misguided, delusional, mentally ill. You STILL haven’t defined what the classifications for either gender are the 5th time I’ve asked. What is there to discuss if you cannot articulate your point? How can we determine what genders there should be or how many when you cannot define the two there are? I sleep soundly every night, but I’d thank you to keep your thoughts off of me in bed no matter how hard that might be for you. But- I can’t stop you. As has been the point- I’m asking you, it’s your choice to respect that.

Drug dealers rarely run sales events you see. If you buy crack from this guy- he knows you’ll play what he’s charging. If another dealer is charging $20 for what the next gets $40 for... it’s smarter for the $20 guy to raise prices because he likes money- and he knows you’ll pay. Back in the day guys could spend their day selling $5 bags of weed to 20 people on the block or go to the high schools and colleges and sell the same 20 bags for $20 each. If people will pay it- why would you take money from yourself? If you want to lower prices on something- paradoxically- you must be willing to live without it.

Cable kept going up. They said it would die. Streaming came. Said that was the end of cable. Cable is still here. Still going up. Streaming has gone up too. And Netflix is “only” $8 a month. Unless you’re one of many people who has standard or most people I know- premium because you have family watching different things or want 4K. So only $16 a month. Except add another $13 for Hulu plus. Then Amazon prime video (whatever percent of the cost of prime that goes to it...) and perhaps HBO go or some other streaming service. Compare to basic cable and you’re paying the same or more per “channel” and it’s just a question of which you’d rather watch. Start adding sports packages and the like- ABC streaming, Disney... and what changed? Surprisingly little.

If gas is $5 a gallon, parking is almost $1,000 a month, mandatory insurance $300 a month. Car payment (if like most people you buy a newer car an finance) $100-600 a month in the common range.... and a great deal of that is profit.... if you’re willing to pay that... why wouldn’t someone charge it? I knew people who didn’t believe gas could ever reach $2 a gallon. Swore they’d quit driving in protest if it did. They still pay at $5.

So we have a system designed to incentivize or all but require driving, matched with initiatives designed to penalize driving- and that can cause problems. It takes time but the answer to most such outrages is to vote with your wallet.

You have to travel far and through mikes of nothingness to the same shopping hub that everyone for 10-20+ square miles is going to; its incentivized to make bulk purchases- buying huge quantities of long term stock to minimize the trios you take to the store- which of course makes carrying these bulk purchases impractical or prohibitive walking, biking, or taking public transit.

“Suburban” style construction and planning of course is the antithesis of this model. With some people needing to travel miles or lore just to get beyond the vast expanse of remote houses surrounding their own to access basic services or transportation. Large chain stores or shopping plazas are likewise often located far from most peoples homes and centralized.

It can be quite terrible. When I was in school it was cheaper to take the train- then they raised the price so it was cheaper to drive. Then for awhile they were the same cost; but taking the train was faster but required a walk. In general though the modern push is to remove the incentive for people to drive. Many cities for example m- somewhat counter intuitively- require new construction to limit the number of parking spaces available. Places like San Francisco and New York are notorious for this- almost people will try to avoid driving into the city and instead rely on walking, biking, and public transportation when they go.

Some large people are very vocal and in your face. They kinda have to be. They have to love themselves so intensely to make up for how much the world hates them, just so they can have the ability to get through the day.

So it’s not about you personally finding her beautiful. It’s the fact that someone out there will or does. At least herself. As a society in general we tend to almost strip the overweight of their humanity. Many tend to think of them as just a blight- shocked that anyone would ever want them. The default assumption often is that this person must be single. That if they have a partner then they must have money, or that something has to be “wrong” with their partner that they HAD to resort to dating them and couldn’t find someone “better.” And when most of the world is telling you that you aren’t beautiful. That you are a sidekick and not the protagonist of your own life, that unless you change you’ll have to settle for what you can get- that causes deep damage to a person.

Being treated like it’s invisible, or a monster, wont hurt the music. It will hurt a person. Almost all of us have had times where we felt unwanted or unattractive. Almost all of us like to feel at least like we are presentable in public. But wether it’s an amputation, a birth mark, a scar, burns, your weight, your teeth, a bad haircut... whatever- no one wants to feel like a sideshow freak when they leave the door. Be the butt of jokes just for being alive and in life.

They cannot. They should not. You find what you find beautiful. “Everyone is beautiful” isn’t a militant demand that you personally find every person beautiful. I could see how one might feel that way. Let’s use music. You might not like a certain band or a certain type of music: but there is a BIG difference between saying “this isn’t for me” or “I don’t like this” and saying “this is cancer in society. It shouldn’t exist. It’s not even music.” Now- with music, you might hurt the artists feelings in the relatively unlikely event they find out you dislike their work. You might hurt the feelings of someone who really likes it: but the music itself doesn’t have feelings.

No problem. I’m glad that you enjoyed it. But here’s the thing clever guy: if it is meaningless elaboration- why did you bother to comment a meaningless inquisitive with your variant of “what?” After the initial reply? What would you expect in response to a meaningless statement? The only logical reply to meaningless drivel is meaningless drivel really. There wouldn’t really be another way to respond would there? Being that there was very little to work with to start? So perhaps consider that if you choose to undertake a quest of self awareness- because your present sentiments are self defeating.

@iccarus- yeah. You nailed it. Anyone who cares about other people and their feelings is likely sad and empty. That poor Bill Gates gives all that money away, those sad celebrities and billionaires- poor Elon musk with all his advocacy and philanthropy. Or.... I type fast and have lots of free time because my career allows lots of flexibility. Who knows. But yes. An intelligent reply. “A person took advantage of this thing once so it’s bad!” Perhaps we should ban marriage, eliminate all social services, etc. because people game those systems sometimes too? Or I dunnoh... we could do what we do with most things and try to close the loop holes but known occasional abuses happen in any system?

You don’t seem to understand your own position. At least 3 times I’ve asked you to define what are the criteria by which a man or woman is defined in gender and 3 times you have not been able to do so. If you can’t tell me what makes a man, or a woman- how can you tell me there can’t be anything else besides those two things when you don’t even know what those two things are? What logical dispute of fact can there be if you haven’t even established what the facts are?

I can’t teach you respect. That was your parents job. That’s your job to learn. If calling people avocados (again- being another SPECIES isn’t a gender. Other species besides humans have gender.) because they have potentially legitimate cases that they do not fit a traditional gender and would like a categorical expansion is your idea of respect- debating an issue you demonstrate a lack of knowledge or research on from the perspective that dmv forms define human existence, and painting people for not sticking to binary gender or sexuality as having mental illness is respectful to you- that’s your choice to live that way. But you didn’t like being disrespected in my post did you?

You seem to be mixed up. It proves my point. You didn’t much like the disrespect of that condescension did you? So you just proved my point quite well. You don’t have to be respectful at all times. I don’t, no one does. But- that disrespectful gesture shit down productive discourse between us. Made you feel unpleasant. Perhaps hurt your view of me and others view of me. The same way that perhaps your “ponderosa pine” comment (which is covered in the long reply but Tl:dr- trees have gender classifications too. So thinking you’re a tree isn’t gender; and you’d still have some gender classification as a tree) could be seen as disrespectful since it misses the issue and trivializes non binary gender people’s identities. Paints them as having a mental disorder.
