Was at work last night and a regular needed change. Her husbands name is "Bill" and he already had walked in. So she comes to my till and says "Can I get some change? I just need bills". and I said "Bill is over there". It was the best pun I made in the three years I've worked there. She loved it.
Beside the point, but honestly - what’s with downing spouses on the internet? She (he?) “let [my] husband”. Such uncooperative, praiseless language. How difficult is it to say something more like: ‘my husband took on labeling the spices’. It’s just unnecessary to say you ‘let’ your partner be involved in home management.
You're absolutely right, and it's playing into the "useless husband/shrill wife" narrative that's perpetuated in straight couples in countless sitcoms and movies. Most people using this type of language don't even realise it because it's so ingrained.
