I think the problem is that the ratio of good vs shitty music has changed. There is probably as much brilliant (new) music today as there ever was, but way more crap in comparison. It has become a lot easier to produce something one might confuse with music, and most "music fans" don't actually want to listen to anything that makes them think or even slightly uncomfortable, and it easy nowadays to produce something that does not sound out of tune and appeals to some basis desires.
Yea but it does hurt a bit when your ears are being constantly stuffed full of popular crap. It takes ages and lots of coincidences to discover something worth listening which also can't exaclty be called a plus of the current time period.
Wow this is really harsh. Some people believe in reincarnation and that they were truly born in the wrong time. Keep your opinions to yourself. Also, music was better back then because of how raw and new rock and roll was. It's different and more mainstream now. Its not just the sound its the history. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean you need to mock it
