But aren't these two very different types if animation? It still falls under the category of animation, but wasn't Life of Pi CGI? And the first one of course was actual animation, like a cartoon. Sorry if I sound rude... I just wanted to say something.
They both are difficult but they're pretty different mediums as well. The new CGI technology is incredible but it's not like the animators got that much better at drawing in the same way the first tiger is drawn.
No, it's not. It's computer generated. Amazing isn't it? How realistic we can make things? Bengals aren't quite so pale, though. There's a bit more orange to them. Less yellow.
The tiger as you see him in the movie is animated. They might've used motion capture, but the tiger is animated. Did you see his face in the movie? The facial expressions were slightly too human to be a real tiger's.
