How about they're both shallow, ignorant and intrusive? I realize there's some double standards in favor of females (let's not start seriously accounting that though, the victim competition is pretty much rigged) but it seems a lot of guys mention that to justify their own behavior whereas we should probably all just stop that sort of shit in the first place. Men should call out men, women should call out women for that. Let's try and improve things from within and not keep on fighting each other.

None of what has been mentioned here is "working for free", simply because people literally do nothing without getting their reward system triggered and/or avoiding negative consequences one way or the other. No matter what sort of charity work you do, or whether you're grinding for years in a game, there's always that carrot at the end of the stick in front of you, whether you realize it or not. I get it, usually the definition of "for free" is "without getting paid" but that's just another abstract concept we human are imposing on basic experiences and cross species systems we share with most animals.

Actually, that's Fugu, and humans enjoy that stuff too. Officially, the Fugu master must remove all poisonous parts, but the silent agreement is to leave enough of the toxic tissue so the customer can get this certain buzz. The more buzz, the more famous the Fugu Master., the more casualties.
